Hearst Magazines has announced that Rajiv Pant has been named general manager of technology platforms and chief technology and product officer, overseeing technology and product development for Hearst Magazines, Hearst Autos and CDS Global. The announcement was made by Hearst Magazines President Debi Chirichella.

Pant, who joined Hearst Magazines as interim head of media platforms in August 2021, will be responsible for developing state-of-the-art technology, building innovative advertising solutions and integrating industry-leading product engineering with content across the company’s portfolio of brands. He will also lead the modernization of the technology platform powering CDS Global and Hearst Magazines’ digital businesses.

Chirichella: “In the short time he has been at Hearst, Rajiv’s strong leadership, deep expertise and unwavering passion have helped to significantly accelerate the development of our technology and platform capabilities. In addition to being results-driven and a collaborative business partner, Rajiv’s ability to build and drive strategy across functions makes him the ideal candidate for this role.”

Pant: “I’ve admired Hearst for its long-term vision, values and company culture for many years. I look forward to helping the Magazines, Autos and CDS Global businesses continue to succeed, grow and lead the way by embracing modern technologies and a culture of product innovation at the core.”

Pant brings more than 20 years of experience in product, design and engineering to Hearst, most recently serving as senior advisor to McKinsey & Company and the AI startup You.com. Previously, he was chief product and technology officer of The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), a position he held before being named deputy chief technology officer of News Corp, the parent company of the WSJ and several other global brands.

Throughout his career, Pant has held numerous leadership roles at The New York Times, Condé Nast, Reddit and Cox Media Group, and spent nearly a decade at Knight Ridder. He is the recipient of numerous industry accolades, including the Newspaper Association of America’s 20 Under 40 Award and the Knight Ridder Excellence Award for Technology Innovation. In 2014, he was recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

Reporting to Chirichella, Pant begins his new role on February 1.
