Essence announces Richard Hartell as new Global Chief Client Officer for Google
Essence has announced that Richard Hartell has joined the agency as the new Global Chief Client Officer, overseeing the agency’s long-standing relationship with Google.
He comes to Essence most recently serving as Chief Strategy Officer and Global President of Strategy & Transformation at Publicis Media.
A proven integrator across disciplines and putting client’s growth at the heart of communications, media and digital experiences, Richard’s deep experience in media strategy makes him uniquely suited to lead Essence’s groundbreaking work with our Google partner.

Richard has 20 years' experience in media agencies across two continents in a range of roles, from strategy to client leadership and general management across multiple clients and categories. He has led major new business wins and led teams across strategy, planning, content, research, and data; developed global agency products and approaches; won numerous industry awards and helped create profitable growth in every role he has had.
Throughout his career he has worked with a range of clients including Samsung, Mondelez, Blackberry, Heineken, Honda and Citi.
